So a co-worker asked how much whisk(e)y I consume since I’m constantly testing different samples for the show.
In my 30’s I was a 1 beer a week/1 whisky a year kind of guy. So as I told him 2-3 drinks a night a self-cringe crept up my spine…is that too much? So the Inter-Web provided a wide swath of questionable information, but moderate drinking seems to be healthy with caveats. Q: Will I tell my Doctor how much i drink? A: Hell yes, he’s slightly over weight…he can’t judge me. Q: Can I stop? A: Huh…tried on the spot from a Tuesday to Tuesday. No problem, no DT’s, but out of habit I thought about sampling Wed/Thur…Now Coffee…”I can’t quit you”. Q: Do I hide purchases from my spouse? A: Oh Hell Yeah! Scotch Test Dummies would cease to exist if she saw the yearly booze bill. So 2 out of 3 with a caveat…let the testing re-begin!
There are many benefits of drinking whisky..I just tell people I drink whisky for the health benefits!

Great article Don! Love it!
You’d be hard pressed to find a high level name in the spirits industry that checks out early in life. Some of those guys, even the average employee’s, work for forty plus years and live into their 80’s and 90’s! ETL is a good, albeit extreme example.
